Shania Twain was born August 28, 1965 in Windsor, Ontario as Eilleen Regina Edwards. As a Canadian singer and songwriter Twain successfully crossed over from country to pop music with her third album,
Come on Over, which is the best selling country album of all time, as well as the biggest selling album ever by a female artist. Shania married rock producer Robert "Mutt" Lange in late 1993 and together they have five-year-old son, Eja.
After being spotted singing at a resort, Shania recorded her first self-titled album in 1993, but was disappointed with the results. Her second album
The Woman in Me (1995), produced with her husband, gave Shania her first #1 single with "Any Man of Mine" and won her a Grammy for Best Country Album.
Come on Over (1997) was her greatest achievement to date, selling 39 million copies worldwide. After taking a break Shania came back with
Up! (2002) a double album, which fared well but couldn’t quite reach the success of her prior album. In 2004 she released her Greatest Hits and is currently working on new material.
